ARCTIC FOX (Vulpes lagopus)
The arctic fox is perfectly adopted for survival in the extreme cold. It has a low surface area to volume ratio, thanks to the compact body shape, short muzzle legs, and short ears. It has dense pelage, even its paws have fur on the soles for extra insulation and to help it walk on ice. The name "lagopus" in its scientific name means "hare-foot" refers to this.
